John was not just an Australian expert in timber flooring and plywood; he was a visionary whose influence spanned across continents, from Australia to the Cook Islands, the Marshall Islands, and Palau in the Pacific Ocean. His entire life was dedicated to the craft of timber, where he built several plywood factories, imparted knowledge, and solved complex challenges with unwavering kindness and a keen sense for innovation.
John’s life was defined by his relentless dedication and passion for his work, often pushing the limits of his time and energy to ensure excellence. It was during one of his many business trips, searching for a peeling machine after a fire devastated a factory in Grafton, Australia, that John’s journey was cut short. At the age of 62, he passed away from heart disease, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, wisdom, and a dream yet to be fulfilled.
John Lamont was more than a mentor to us; he was a guiding light, a problem solver, and a friend who generously shared his knowledge and passion for timber flooring. He believed in the beauty and potential of wood, and his dream was to establish a timber floor brand in the United States that embodied his values of quality, craftsmanship, and innovation.
